Abu Dhabi to host EcoCity summit

ABU DHABI will host the 2015 edition of EcoCity Summit, the biennial cross-disciplinary gathering of all involved in building sustainable cities that is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates. The event also features an associated Ecocity exhibition.

Summit organiser the Ecocity Conference Series Relay Committee (ECRC) – a division of the non-profit organisation Ecocity Builders – said several factors helped Abu Dhabi’s bid to host the summit stand out, including its commitment to facing environmental challenges and supporting renewable energy as well as its interest in ‘blue carbon sequestration’, the absorption of carbon in mangroves and sea grasses.

 

Hospitality show sets exhibitor record

THE largest hospitality and supplies show in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region achieved record growth in exhibitor numbers in its 14th edition held recently in Dubai, UAE.

More than 560 exhibitors had a major networking opportunity with leading companies of the sector at the event held at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from September 28 to 30.

A key feature of this year’s show was the Vision Conference that focused on revenue management and sustainability with sessions hosted by Trane, Middle East and Africa,  Accor, Jannah Hotels, Yas Viceroy, Atlantis and Fairmont to name a few.

The launch of The Leisure Show forum was equally well received.

 

IQ to display latest interior products

A NEW exhibition planned for 2015 will bring to Qatar the latest and most innovative products and solutions for the interiors and hospitality markets.

IQ, organised by dmg events Middle East and q.media – a Qatar-based media house – is a B2B event that will be a platform for residential and commercial interior design, hospitality interiors and solutions, as well as fit out materials, fixtures and fittings.

Designed to serve Qatar’s burgeoning buildings, construction and interior fit-out markets, IQ will take place from February 23 to 25, 2015, and will cover 10,000 sq m of the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha, Qatar.

 

Conference to spotlight safety

A GCC conference to be held next month (December 30) will address safety concerns in the construction industry.

The GCC Scaffolding and Construction Equipment Safety and Hazard Prevention Conference will be held at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai, UAE, to highlight efforts at promoting a safe work environment for labourers. Organised by Datamatix, the conference aims to enhance efforts at promoting advanced use of PPE (personal protective equipment) in hazards prevention.
