HIS Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain recently laid the foundation stone for the first phase of a social housing project consisting of 4,000 houses in the kingdom.

To be built over three phases in Hidd, Phase One of the project will see the construction of 1,500 houses. A total of 1,000 houses will be built in Phase Two and another 1,500 in Phase Three, said Ramzee Jalaleefe, council member representing Hidd on the Muharraq Municipal Council.

The land for the project, he said, is already demarcated along the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Causeway connecting Hidd to Manama.

In addition to the 4,000 houses, 500 allotments of land have been made, said Jalaleefe.
