Tiger Group ‘best employer’
THE Tiger Group has been named the‘Best Smart Pay Employer’ in recognition of the group’s commitment to employee welfare by supporting the WPS (Wage Protection System) regulations established by the UAE Ministry of Labour and Central Bank of the UAE.
The UAE’s ‘Smart Pay Appreciation programme 2010’ conferred the honour on the Tiger Group. “The group's commitment paved its way to the exclusive list of top 10 best employers under the Smart Pay Appreciation Programme 2010,” said a spokeswoman for the UAE-based group.
The group, represented by Bernard Nasr, CEO of Tiger Profiles and Tiger Group’s human resources and administration director, received the award.
The Tiger Group was established in 1968 and today includes six companies specialising in engineering, manufacturing, contracting and trading. They include Tiger Steel Engineering; TigerProfiles & Insulation; Al Nimr Civil Engineering; Al Nimr Steel Trading; Tiger Steel Industries; and Tiger Steel Engineering India.
Danube opens 28th outlet in UAE
DANUBE Building Materials, a leader in construction, building materials and shop-fitting industries, has opened its latest showroom in Sharjah, UAE.
The Dh10-million ($2.7 million) showroom is the 28th retail facility in the UAE.
It was inaugurated by Abdullah Al Qayedi, director of Sharjah Municipality and Khalid Saif Almuaini, director of Sharjah Economic Department.
Located in the sanitary ware wholesale market of Sharjah, the 5,000-sq-ft Danube Building Materials showroom is being offered as a ‘Business to Business’ retail and wholesale unit specialising in sanitary ware and ceramic tiles products.
Excellent Pipes honoured
EXCELLENT Pipes Company has been awarded the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (2010-2011) for the third time in recognition of the excellence of the quality and performance of its manufacturing division.
The award was presented to chairman and CEO Mohammed Al Refaey by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler’s representative in the Western region. Excellent Pipes Company offers an extensive product portfolio that includes uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride), reinforced concrete (RC), RC jacking, GRE (glass reinforced epoxy) and GRP (glass reinforced plastic) pipes.
The company has previously earned other accolades from the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards programme including the Silver award for Progress Towards Quality in 2003 and the Gold award for the Sheikh Khalifa industrial category and a further award for its achievements in adopting quality and business excellence in 2005.
