
Four local companies have bagged six contracts valued at Dh362.1 million ($100.5 million) from the General Industry Corporation (GIC) for developing the new industrial city at Mussaffah. The industrial city, being built over 14 sq km, will cater to small and medium-sized companies and is expected to be completed by mid-2001.
Dhabi Contracting Company has won a Dh64 million contract for Package One which covers the construction of 15 buildings designed to house administration, government offices, a business centre, serviced offices, banks, a 60-bed guest house, a cinema, training centre and a cultural centre. Dhabi has also been awarded a Dh13.9 million deal for Package Three involving the construction of a local centre, the main gatehouse and a 1,200 boundary wall.
Al Ghafly General Contracting Company has bagged Package Two, worth Dh84 million for the construction of five flocks, while Gulf Contracting has won a Dh84 million contract to build three blocks as part of the same package. Al Ghafly has also another Dh7.5 million contract as part of Package Five for the construction of six factory units of 1,000 sq m.
Amana Steel Buildings Contracting has won an estimated Dh7.1 million contract to construct two 2,000 sq m factory units and a Dh7.6 million deal to build six 500 sq m factory units.
