Aerofoam NBR ... high water vapour diffusion resistance.

DUBAI-based Hira Industries, a manufacturer of high-quality products for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) industry, has launched Aerofoam NBR, a closed-cell nitrile rubber insulation.

According to a company spokesman, the closed cell structure of Aerofoam NBR ensures lower thermal conductivity as compared to the traditional fibreglass insulation, resulting in the possibility of using a lower thickness of the material as against fibreglass for similar applications.

“Further, Aerofoam NBR does not require any vapour barrier for internal installations, and requires just a coat of UV (ultraviolet) paint for external installations,” he says.

Aerofoam NBR is compounded to achieve a high water vapour diffusion resistance ‘µ‘ of more than 7,000 ensuring a long service life. It is also classified Class One as per BS 476, Part 7 and Class O as per BS 476, Part 6, tests for spread of flame. The product has also passed a wide variety of smoke and toxicity tests as per ISO 5659 test methods. The production and installation process is completely CFC (chlorofluorocarbon)-free and is ozone-friendly, according to the spokesman.

Aerofoam NBR has been manufactured by Hira Industries’ plant in Ras Al Khaimah on a fully automatic state-of-the-art production line.

The range includes standard pipe sections, sheets and rolls. “Further customisation is also provided using self-adhesive, and aluminium foil-reinforced sheets and rolls,” the spokesman adds.
