IMRAS Gulf Manufacturing Company has supplied thousands of dollars worth of stainless steel products for the King Hamad University Hospital project – some of which were manufactured to meet the special requirements of the project.
These products included sinks, cold rooms, utility boxes, water coolers, ducting for generator exhaust pipes and access cover panels.

Specially-built stainless steel sinks were produced as per the client’s design and drawings, using AISI 316 L stainless steel sheets and are intended for use in various sections of the hospital. In addition, a total of six cold rooms have been installed for the storage of heat-sensitive products in various parts of the hospital (except for the kitchen). These incorporate Tecumseh condensing units and French-made Frigabohn evaporator units.
Imras has also supplied utility boxes made from AISI 304-grade stainless steel, used for covering electrical joints; bubbler-type water coolers to provide drinking water for the public in various areas inside the hospital; ducting for generator exhaust pipes in AISI 316-grade stainless steel; flanges for various applications in AISI 316 l stainless steel; and access cover panels for different utilities, made with AISI 304-grade stainless steel.

“In total, around BD120,000 ($318,300) worth of products were supplied according to the orders that were completed in June last year (2010),” says Manuel Selva-kumar, the company’s CEO and managing director. “It was a challenge to meet the scheduled deliveries within the short notice period after the approval of final drawings.”
The assignment was handled by engaging additional manpower and hiring machineries from external sources, he adds.
Selvakumar says that once complete, the KHUH will set the benchmark in healthcare in Bahrain.
