SALWA Amin Interiors’ (SAI) assignment at the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) included applying quality surface finishes on the ground and first floor areas of the medical facility.
Managing director Salwa Amin elaborates: “Work carried out by SAI at KHUH was mainly applying Armourcoat plaster finish to main areas such as the reception area on the ground floor and the cafeteria and registration areas on the first floor.”
The area covered by SAI’s scope was 340 sq m, and it took just two weeks to complete (started on March 29, 2010 and completed April 2010). “With our experience and our well-trained team of workers, we were able to deliver the best service and it was a privilege to be associated with a great health-care project like the King Hamad Hospital,” says Amin. “I think that the hospital will provide lots of jobs in the healthcare sector, besides providing Bahrain with quality healthcare services.”
SAI was established in 2007, with a team of six which has now expanded to include 17 members. Its core activities comprise interior design consultancy, decorative painting and supplying private clients and other interior designers with high-end upholstery fabrics and wallpaper.

Amin ... business is picking up. |
The company is the sole agent for Armourcoat plaster surface finishes, which is popular among designers for numerous prestigious projects. In addition to Armourcoat, it also has a wide range of other special paint products such as Novacolor and Navona.
Some of the projects that the company has been involved with include Capital Club, BMI, Zain headquarters, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef and Arpels outlets and recently the headquarters of Electricity and Water.
The company was also involved in preparing packages for furnishing five different types of villas at Riffa Views.
“Business for the company has been a little slow over the past year due to the general market scenario, but it is certainly looking up now,” says Amin.
Speaking of developments within the company, she says that SAI has ventured into the fabrics and furnishing sector, and is considering expanding into furniture supply for residential, commercial and hospitality sectors during 2011. It also plans to increase its focus on major commercial and hospitality projects. “The Bahrain market offers great potential for interior design services/products,” Amin adds.
