RIGHT from touch-screen lighting controls to emergency shower heads, the King Hamad University Hospital project has drawn on United Building Materials (UBM) forte as a leading provider of environment engineering solutions.

Some of the products supplied by the company include ABB touch-screen lighting controls, Honeywell special control valves, sanitary fittings, electronically-controlled water taps, complete ABS piping systems, specialist tapware, emergency showers, shower heads, Paige control cables, LED lights and other various materials.

“We are proud to be a part of the King Hamad University Hospital project as a supplier of various materials and products,” says general manager Biju Prabhakaran.

Since its inception, UBM has adopted a policy of providing the finest expert services and facilities to all its clients. The strength of the company, Prabhakaran says, is derived from the wide spectrum of international companies it represents. Some of its partners include Honeywell, ABB, Erico, Dunham-Bush, Galvin Engineering, Tyco Water (ABS pipes), Uponor, Claytan Group, Enware, Ramtaps, Lider, Pipeco, Powerbar, Paige Electric, Universal Tubes, and Iskraemeco-Energy Measurement and Management.

UBM is committed to expanding its agencies and joint ventures within Bahrain, Prabhakaran adds.

It has a highly-qualified staff, state-of-the-art specialised equipment and is dedicated to customer service, quality and environment. The company, with its keen knowledge of the local economy, strives to offer international manufacturers a strong representation in the Bahrain market by employing the best management practices.

A key focus area for the company is the environment and in line with this, UBM has long been advocating the use of energy-saving products.

Prabhakaran ... UBM proud to be involved with the project.

“One of the fastest and most effective ways for any business to increase profits is to reduce its energy costs, and UBM is in a position to offer energy-saving products,” says Prabhakaran.

The company provides total energy-saving solution and products, which dramatically reduce running costs and maximise efficiency of various applications including air-conditioning, heating, lighting, motors and refrigeration, to name a few.
“Energy saving is no longer an option, it is a necessity,” he points out. Taking this into consideration, UBM is aware that business owners continually look for ways of keeping their competitive edge and the opportunity to significantly reduce their costs.

The long-term objective of UBM is to become a significant key player in the global market place, says Prabhakaran.
“We shall focus our effort and utilise our resources in the most effective way to provide the best quality and services to our clients while maintaining our competitive edge advantage,” he says.

The company’s management and employees share a ‘One Vision’ of excellence in all its dealings. “This means that across the board, we pursue the highest standards of services and standards that make us a trustworthy business partner,” he says.

In line with its drive to promote quality and ensure customer satisfaction, the company’s management and employees are fully committed to provide products and services that conform to contractual and regulatory requirements.

“UBM’s management will always foster and sponsor a continuous quality improvement environment and commitment towards sustaining a high level of team spirit among its employees. We believe that excellence in quality, service, human resources and performance are the reasons for our success and the key for the future growth,” says Prabhakaran.

UBM has been part of many major projects in Bahrain. Apart from the latest King Hamad University Hospital project, other assignments undertaken this year (2010) include the Fontana Towers, to which it provided power bar busbar systems, Honeywell BMS (building management systems) systems and BTU metering systems, Erico lightning protection systems, Paige cables, ABB wiring accessories, BPT video intercom systems and Universal tubes.
