TAM International UK has launched Tam DuoGuard anodes in Saudi Arabia through an agency agreement with Building Technology Trading and Contracting Company in Al Khobar.

Developed in the UK, the Tam DuoGuard anodes utilise a unique dual-technology platform, designed to control the movement of chloride ions and stop the corrosion of reinforcing steel within one week. To do this, the units operate in a temporary impressed current mode for an initial period of seven days. The temporary power source is then disconnected and the units continue to operate in a long-term galvanic (sacrificial) mode.

The anodes are available in five different lengths to suit all requirements. More than 40 patent applications in this field have been filed internationally.

Tam says the anodes offer considerable advantages over ordinary galvanic anodes (which require corrosion to be stopped prior to installation) and over impressed current cathodic protection (which requires a permanent power supply and maintenance over its entire service life). Their major benefits include: stopping corrosion in just seven days, preventing the reoccurrence of corrosion in adjacent locations, ease of installation, minimal down-times, and reduced noise, dust and environmental disruption.
