CONSTRUCTION work on Phase One of Bawabat Al Sharq, a Dh3-billion ($816 million) world-class, mixed-use development under construction in Abu Dhabi’s Bani Yas city, is progressing as per schedule.
The substructure for residential units is almost complete, while the construction of the Destination Mall, which is planned for a grand opening in December next year, is also progressing fast with the substructure nearing completion, according to the developer, Baniyas Investment and Development Company (BID).
The work is being carried out on a fast track and almost 40 per cent of the project is now complete, according to a statement.
Wael Tawil, chief executive officer of BID, said: “We have achieved tremendous progress on the project, which reflects our commitment to the Bani Yas community.”
Phase One, expected to be completed in the third quarter of next year, includes a total of 164 well-designed apartments and 56 luxury villas.
The mall, covering nearly 70,000 sq m, will feature 339 retail outlets in addition to a Carrefour hypermarket. The mall will be spread across two floors and will include 2,245 parking spaces and 22 food outlets.
