HANSGROHE, a global name in the bathroom industry, has unveiled its Axor Urquiola bathroom suite – a collection of more than 80 contemporary pieces designed by Patricia Urquiola.
Axor Urquiola creates an ambience of lightness and energy, featuring a wide range of fixtures that allow large scope for customising – to mix and match the pieces and transform the bathroom into a private lap of spa-inspired luxury.
“In Axor Urquiola, every single object plays an individual, yet important role, and all have been scripted in the unique personal manner of the Spanish-born designer: she cleverly combines a formal language inspired by nature with clean edges, playful elements and precise workmanship,” says a spokesman for Hansgrohe. “The flat handle of the single lever mixer, which combines shining surfaces with soft radii, embodies high quality.
“The generous shape with the rounded corners means that the lever of the mixer can be operated intuitively, at the same time creating a pleasant feeling for the hand. As a characteristic design element in the collection, it rises at an angle out of the base body, providing it with an unaccustomed, but pleasing asymmetry.”
He continues: “The shapes of the archetypal wash basins and bathtubs are reminiscent of the washing tubs of a bygone age. Yet it is only through her use of an innovative material – mineral cast with a polyester gel coat surface – that is has become possible to create this unique shape in a single cast: both sides of the wash basins feature slot-like openings that, while reminiscent of the handles of old-style washing tubs, serve a practical function as receptacles for towels or facecloths.
“A freestanding paravent – the Axor Urquiola radiator – is a modular system whose elements in white, featuring cloud patterns or full-length mirrors elements, can be installed next to each other in any number. Special modules allow an installation as wall radiator.”
The products of the Axor Urquoila bathroom collection interact as individual elements with each other and blend into a new, harmonious whole to support the spatial concept, he continues.
Flowing transitions, soft shapes and gentle curves are found throughout the range and are a characteristic of the entire spatial architecture, and they are what sets Axor Urquiola apart from the rest, he points out.
“This collection will work its charm on each and everyone of us, allowing us to create our own individual design for our private space of retreat and well-being,” predicts Philippe Grohe, head of the Axor designer brand. “Axor Urquiola is our most comprehensive and complete bathroom collection to date, extending from mixers, washbasins and bathtubs through to a screen, which can either be installed as a free-standing radiator or as a wall-mounted heater.”
