DANUBE Building Materials of the UAE has opened its Buildmart brand one-stop shop in Bahrain.

The Bahrain store, which was inaugurated last month, follows the launch of Danube’s first Buildmart store, in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE earlier this year. A third Buildmart is planned for Saudi Arabia.
The Bahrain store spans an area of 300,000 sq ft and contains 15,000 products from more than 200 different companies, giving customers a huge variety to choose from under one roof. The retail complex in Salmabad was set at a cost of BD5 million ($13.2 million) and comprises a 50,000-sq-ft warehouse and a 25,000-sq-ft showroom.
Commenting on the complex, Rizwan Sajan, chairman of Danube, says: “The customer-friendly retail complex has been set up to cater to a diverse target audience including interior designers, consultants and homeowners in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, all the products in the retail complex are installed in an actual home set-up, thereby allowing customers a more convenient way to shop for building materials, fixtures and other household items.”
He says he had brought the concept from the US and Canada, where he had been impressed by such one-stop shops and malls.
Products offered are classified under 20 sections, including kitchens, bathrooms, tiles, shower rooms, jacuzzis, flooring for ceramic and wood, ceilings, doors, wallpapers, designed glasses, marble, granite, wall panelling, different finishes of laminates, veneers, mouldings, paints and luxury paints, says Sajan.
In addition, the complex features a design centre, where in-house designers will provide customers free consultancy and expert advice on the best products and other design-related inquires.
