The self-supporting hall systems from Hupro.

Bahrain-based Mimco, which is engaged in various business interests and has the backing and technical support of Slovakian companies, made its debut at gulfBID last month where it launched a number of new technologies.

Among them were self-supporting, assembled, arch halls from Hupro Middle East, one of Mimco’s technology partners.
“Khalifa Al Mannai Contracting, the contracting arm of the Mimco group, is looking forward to undertake several projects in the region using the revolutionary and lightweight steel arches from Hupro. Such projects could include the construction of halls, warehouses or similar structures,” says Khalifa Ahmed Al Mannai, president of Mimco, which is involved in a variety of sectors ranging from construction, marine and mechanical, industrial maintenance to export and import.
The self-supporting assembled arch halls are manufactured in the Slovak Republic through a unique, patent-protected technology, developed in Canada, says Al Mannai.
Hupro, which was established in 1991, says that the products are of a very high quality and are manufactured using products from US Steel Kosice, one of the largest manufacturers of steel products in Central Europe. In addition, the products are documented with a technical certificate issued by the Building Testing and Research Institute, he says.
The product also offers the benefits of simple transportation, quick installation and up to 300 sq m of the arches can be delivered and assembled within a week, says Al Mannai.
The arch systems offer great flexibility and can be delivered in 20 types.
“The product has already been used at more than 2,500 halls in Central Europe and overseas and promises the lowest price for covering any floor space area,” says a spokesman for Hupro.  “The halls from Hupro represent the simplest and more economic space covering, as the technology enables to manufacture an arch of width of span from 9 m to 36 m. The product is unique, since it includes both the supporting structure and the cladding unit in one system.”
The W-shaped basic element is manufactured using zinc-coated sheets in thicknesses from 0.8 mm to 2 mm depending on the width of span and come without a supporting structure. The load capacity is ensured by both lateral and longitudinal shaping of the basic element and the structure is resistant to earthquakes of up to seven degrees on the Richter scale.
Mimco is also looking to make its foray into the design of specialised projects through Dopravoprojekt Middle East. The Slovakian design ace Dopravoprojekt has been undertaking several projects in Eastern Europe, right from the initial stages of preparation, designing, assessment and implementation of projects.
“Dopravoprojekt’s core business is designing, starting with planning and pre-investment studies to construction drawings and supervision or as an engineer in the course of construction. The company has already been involved with the design of primarily roads and motorways, urban roads, bridges and a variety of other buildings and structures,” says a spokesman for Dopravopro-jekt.
The company has also been involved with other projects that include: rail transport and underground railway (metro), structures for rivers and ports, regulations of streams and relocations of overhead lines and underground services, geotechnical solutions as well as various surveys and investigations and technological packages.
Mimco was also promoting the services of Metrostav, another Slovakian company specialised in construction, which has been managing and implementing challenging construction projects in Europe.
“The key strategic objective of Metrostav is to continue intensifying effective utilisation of all available resources for securing the position of a top European construction firm with a steadily growing market,” says a spokesman for the construction firm.
Metrostav’s main strengths have included a reasonable pricing policy and a can-do approach to customers’ requirements, based on fully-guaranteed quality, on schedule delivery of civil projects.
Bahrain-based Mimco currently has four divisions in its fold that include: Al Mannai Industrial Maintenance, MMC Marine and Mechanical, Khalifa Al Mannai Contracting and Khalifa Al Mannai Export and Import Group.
