Belgium Aluminium and Glass Industries (BAG), a UAE-based fabricator and installer of aluminium, glazed structures and decorative metal work, has launched the construction of its Dh80 million ($21.78 million) factory in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) in Mussafah.
With completion set for May, the factory will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and have a capacity of 360,000 sq m per year, which will include two production lines dedicated for unitised curtain walls.
The company has also joined hands with Germany-based Alcoa Group, the world’s leading producer and manager of primary aluminium, fabricated aluminium and alumina facilities, for the delivery of its award-winning Kawneer architectural system within the factory.
The move is in line with the manufacturer’s aim to leverage the demand for aluminium building systems amidst the UAE’s booming real estate sector.
In addition, its strategic agreement with Alcoa will augment the company’s aggressive expansion strategy, which is currently being supported by its long-standing partnership with Belgium-based Sapa RC Systems and French company Technal.
“We have recognised the tremendous opportunities that Abu Dhabi has to offer as an ideal location for our new manufacturing facility,” says JR Gangaramani, chairman and managing director, Al Fara’a Construction, the parent company of BAG.
“The new facility, along with BAG’s two existing plants, will form part of the company’s planned future expansion that is directed towards meeting the growing market demand in the coming years,” he adds.
