Septech Emirates has once again been requisitioned by Omani contractors to build two additional pontoons in Al Ashkarah, south of Muscat, an additional pontoon in Lima in the Khasab region and a further two, still being executed, in Sohar.
The move forms part of the government’s objective to provide better facilities to support its local fishing industry.
“Based on our earlier success, Omani contractors approached us to install more pontoons in other fishery harbours,” says David Heffernan, managing director, Septech Emirates. “Prior to these installations, local fishermen had nowhere to secure their boats. The floating, concrete pontoons we installed require minimal maintenance and were locally manufactured in our purpose-built factory in Ajman.
“Each dock has been individually engineered for durability and they have been designed to serve the needs of a variety of boats, from traditional dhows, patrol vessels and recreational boats to large, commercial fishing boats,” he adds.
A leader in the construction of marinas, Septech Emirates is currently tendering for marinas of varying sizes and specifications in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. “Clients use Septech Emirates to manufacture and install marinas in the GCC because they build pontoons locally in a purpose-built factory, making them cost effective and enabling them to engineer pontoons that suit specific marina challenges and requirements,” says Heffernan.
The company has a partnership in the Middle East with the world’s oldest and largest marina design and construction company, Bellingham Marine Australia (BMA). The partnership has enabled the UAE-based company to manufacture and install the Unifloat floating concrete system, renowned for its superior stability and quality, in the GCC country that acknowledges fishing as one of its primary industries.
Septech Emirates will be exhibiting its Unifloat dock system, complete with accessories and a variety of different finishes at the Waterfront Dubai 2005 to be held at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Rashidiya Grand Ballroom, Dubai from May 9 to 10.
