Landmark lands $200m project

Jean Nouvel, architect, has handed over the final blueprint of the $200 million Bilbao Museum of the Middle East project to Landmark of Lebanon. Landmark is a 75 per cent Kuwaiti- and 25 per cent Lebanese-owned company.

The project,which will be located in Riad Solh Square in Downtown Beirut calls for the construction of two low-level buildings that will not exceed 60-m, and one 155-m, or 40 floor tower making it one of the tallest and largest structures in Lebanon.
The development over an area of 120,000 sq m will consist of a five-star hotel, furnished apartments for rent, luxurious apartments for sale, an 18,000 sq m mall, a cinema complex that can accommodate up to 1,500 people, an amusement centre, a health club, a spa and a large underground parking lot.
Construction work on this project is expected to begin before the end of this year, as soon as the necessary permits for excavation and construction are approved. The project is expected to take three years to complete, said reports.
