US-based leader in transmission and mobility solutions Allison Transmission a part of the General Motors Corporation – (GMC) family – plans to intensify its global presence in the coming years through introducing new product transmission model lines.
The company has played a significant role in enhancing the efficiency of machines used in the construction sector through innovation and Allison’s automatic transmissions are used by major truck manufacturers for a wide range of applications including concrete mixers, dump trucks, airport catering, yard tractors, refuse packers, fire and emergency, pick-up and delivery, refrigerated transport, off-road trucks, oil field and construction, says a spokesman for the company.
The company has led the way in developing a range of innovative products that have greatly advanced the state of ground and air mobility, he adds.
“I am proud Allison Transmission is a key player in one of the significant trends that shaped, and continues to shape, our world. I am confident that we will continue to lead the way in the years ahead,” says Lawrence Dewey, president, Allison Transmission, GMC. “Our new product line (1000 Series and 2000 Series) is allowing us to enter new and exciting markets.’’
‘‘For more than 50 years, Allison’s commercial and military automatic transmission product lines have improved working-vehicle productivity, utility, reliability and safety. Our transmission engineering and marketing pioneers have literally invented the products and the global markets we now serve.
“As we enter the 21st century, we know it has been Allison employees, past and present, who have enabled this fine company to lead the world in the design, manufacture and sale of commercial-duty automatic transmissions. We have come a long way and our technological innovations in product design and manufacturing systems continue to keep us ahead of the competition. The employees of Allison Transmission have over 600 patents making it one of the most prolific patent organisations within GMC. Our existing offices and manufacturing facilities in Europe, Brazil, the Far East, and our facilities in Indianapolis, Indiana all speak of a commitment to continued business growth.’’
Genavco, its UAE distributor, offers Allison’s products, parts and a quality service to its clients the long-lasting business relationship was established. Genavco entered the first contract with General Motors in 1967.
Says a spokesman for the company: “Genavco has the only accredited service training centre with full-time trainers for Allison equipment in the Middle East and it offers regular training programmes for user personnel and staff of the distributors in the region. This training shows the internal components of transmissions and provides information on the operational theory before the students begin actual “hands on” troubleshooting and repair.”
He adds: “Allison Transmission has played a major role in the advances that marked the 20th century as a revolutionary period in transportation and mobility. With roots dating back to the formation of the Indianapolis Speedway Team Company in 1915, the company has led the way in developing a range of innovative products that have greatly advanced the state of ground and air mobility.”
Currently, Allison sells automatic transmissions to every major manufacturer of medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses in the world, and commands more than an 80 per cent share of the world market in heavy-duty automatic transmissions.
Allison automatic transmissions are ideally suited to coping with the demands of construction vehicles when working both on and off road and they help enhancing productivity by reducing journey time. Drivers are less stressed in traffic and better able to concentrate when manoeuvring off-road, leading to improved working conditions and greater efficiency, he says.
A host of safety features provide cost-effective operating benefits and protect each vehicle from unnecessary abuse.
Allison’s transmission systems can be found in equipment produced by major construction equipment manufacturers including: Astra, Bell Equipment, Terex, Volvo, Demag, Grove, Liebherr, Tadano-Faun, Rigo and Terex-PPM. “With a range of automatics from 400 to 5,000 Nm of torque, or 120 to 1,250 hp of power, there is always an Allison for your own application. Most of the truck importers in the UAE will be able to offer you an Allison Automatic for your next buy,” the spokesman says.
