The SO series ... air-cooled and water-cooled versions.

Boge Kompressoren, a leading manufacturer of high-quality piston, screw, and turbo compressors, has recently unveiled its extended oil-free screw compressor series that are finely tuned to one another.

By using oil-free compressing, operators can save lots of space and energy, says a spokesman for the company.
Models with a volume flow ranging from 9.9 cu m/min to 22.4 cu m /min and drive power of 75 kW to 145 kW have been added to the product range of two-stage compressing machines with maximum overpressure of eight bars and 10 bars.
Boge’s spectrum of SO series oil-free screw compressors includes machines with volume flows from 5.12 cu m/min to 50 cu m/min and drive power from 45 kW to 355 kW. The new oil-free screw compressors are supplied in air-cooled and water-cooled versions, says the spokesman.
In an attempt to save space, the compact machines have three distinct areas:
The cooling area – In the case of water-cooling with a seawater suitable heat exchange block for intermediate, after and oil cooling with the lowest pressure loss on the air and water sides;
Compressing section – (Features a horizontal oil-separator vessel at the lowest point, a high efficiency external separator cartridge, airend directly mounted on the vessel, and a multi-function intake regulator. The whole set is mounted on a vibration-damped sub-frame.) with a two-stage operating compressor block for maximum overpressures of 8 bars and 10 bars. The air ends are oil-cooled on the cover side, guaranteeing even tolerances and a constant volume flow; and
Drive section – (Motor, switch cabinet and intake filter are located in the coolest area of the system.) with belt drive and proven Boge GM drive system for quick, smooth adaptation to different pressure and volume flow and with automatic, optimum belt tension in each operating phase. The energy-saving, intelligent Boge-Supertronic controls the SO series and is self-learning, as it reacts automatically to changing operating conditions. The controls calculate the probable compressed air required in advance, and based on stipulated conditions adapts its control behaviour to these needs.
Says the spokesman: “Boge offers individual options for saving energy for all models of the SO series:
Frequency regulation of screw compressors: The new version is ideal for fluctuating compressed air needs as base and peak-load compressor. The units supply the amount of compressed air that is actually needed by the operator during reduced energy operations. Owing to its connection to a HOC adsorption dryer with pressure dew points of up to – 40 deg C, the dryer operates economically and efficiently without using external energy, he concludes.
