AGM in expanded role

From simple beginnings making PVC shoes in 1963, Arabian Gulf Manufacturers (AGM Group) has expanded over the years to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of customers and continues to expand - particularly in the field of household products - to meet customer needs.

When the company was founded 40 years ago by Shaikh Hashem Sadek Hashem, it operated from a 300 sq m site in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It soon moved to an 18,000 sq m site in Jeddah where it started manufacturing products such as PVC pipes and fittings, soft drink crates, edible oil containers, thermoforming disposable items, high impact sheets for refrigerators, polycarbonate water bottles and food and dairy cups.
Today, the AGM Group operates a 100,000 sq m facility in Jeddah equipped with what it says are the the most technologically sophisticated machines which enable the company to manufacture a range of plastic and related products which meet international quality standards.
Drawing on a strong partnership with Shaikh Sulaiman Al Rajhi, AGM says it has a 'vast' range of products, and is considered one of the first, and largest, processors of plastic in Saudi Arabia.
Products well established in both domestic and export markets include PVC pipes and fittings which are produced under the 'AGM Pipes and Fittings' brand, household items under the 'Gulfmaid' brand name, and specialised films for various packaging applications under the 'Gulfwrap' brand name. Other brands well recognised include 'Lexogulf' and 'Gulfcolour'.
Importantly, AGM CPVC and UPVC pipes have ISO certification and the company expects its other brands to follow suit in due course. And as its pipes and fittings conform to ASTM, DIN, BS and Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation (Saso) standards, they are well accepted in local and export markets which include the UK, France, North Africa, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, Singapore, Finland and the Middle East.
AGM has indeed come a long way, with a turnover of SR700 million ($186.7 million) and assets worth more than SR400 million. It is now placed 42nd in the list of Top 100 Saudi companies.
