
Qatari joint stock firm Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC) is to implement the Ras Abu Fontas B (RAF-B) extension project in two phases with an overall production capacity of 600 MW of electricity and 27,000 gallons of water daily.
Technical specifications for the estimated QR2.2 billion ($604.39 million) project have been arranged and the first phase is expected to be completed in mid-2001. The project's total capacity is expected to reach 1,500 MW of electricity and 30 million gallons of water daily when the two phases are completed in five years.
Meanwhile, QEWC has announced net profits of QR215.49 million and ratified distribution of 10 per cent cash dividends to shareholders, said board chairman and Minister of Energy, Industry, Electricity and Water Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah.
