Saudi Ceramic Company (SCC), a leading manufacturer of ceramic products in the Middle East, has launched a modernisation programme of its facilities that will allow it to double its tiles production capacity and also add new product lines by next January.
“SCC, which is the biggest ceramics tile manufacturer in Saudi Arabia, has embarked on a programme that will allow us to meet not only the increasing demand for our products both nationally and internationally but also satisfy our customers’ demands for high-quality products,” says Abdul Karim Al Nafie, general manager. “The expansion – which will involve the addition of new machineries supplied by leading Italian manufacturers in addition to upgrading and modernising its existing production facilities – will allow SCC to double its production capacity to 45,000 sq m per day.”
He explains: “The programme is not limited to increasing plant capacity, but will allow us to manufacture new product lines such as mosaic and extruded tiles in addition to manufacturing a wider array of tile sizes from 10 by 10 cm to 65 by 65 cm.
“SCC’s technological advantage will allow us to remain competitive and sustain our sales growth while serving the demands of our customers for new products and high quality standards at the same time.
Incorporated in Saudi Arabia in 1977, SCC operates two modern tile plants and a sanitary ware plant with an annual capacity of 1.1 million units, as well as an electric water heater plant with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units in three sizes - all in Riyadh.
SCC manufactures and markets some16.4 million sq m ceramic wall and floor tiles in various sizes and finishes as well as 1.2 million pieces of ceramic road markers per year. The company also produces ceramic tile accessories such as skirting, listellos, decoration tiles, swimming pool tiles and vitreous china sanitary ware.
In addition, the company markets a wide range of other bathroom accessories such as mirrors, mixers, jacuzzi, flushing mechanisms, seats and covers, from the leading manufacturers under the brand name Cerosa.
SCC covers the entire Saudi Arabian market and operates a chain of 23 showrooms located in the major cities in the Kingdom. It has recently opened a branch office in Dubai, UAE.
The company’s ceramic products and water heaters are exported to 25 countries.
“Aided by a 1,000-strong staff, SCC has posted a net profit of $11.6 million with a sales turnover to the tune of $75 million last year. In the first six months of this year, the company has already secured a profit of $19.7 million,” says Nafie.
The company, which has been a regular participant at the SaudiBuild, will be participating this year as well.
“It is a very good event and last year SCC got tremendous response for its various products from the visitors,” comments Nafie. “This is one of the major exhibitions in the Kingdom where most of the industry professionals from the GCC and other Middle East countries participate. We also believe that this is one of the best platforms to promote our various products to the industry.”
At the show, SCC will launch a number of new models of ceramic tiles, while promoting its existing range.
