The Geberit Experience Centre in Milan ... intended as a hub for architects, designers and planners to engage with sanitary solutions.

Swiss sanitary solutions provider Geberit International unveiled an immersive installation at the world’s largest and most influential annual design event held last month in Italy, partnering with Swiss architecture and design studio atelier oï to transform the technical dynamics of water flow into a physical architectural experience – thus making its core competence, ‘Mastering Water’, tangible in spatial form.

The presentation, titled “Flow.Form.Function.” was launched during Milan Design Week 2026 (April 20 to 26), at the new Geberit Experience Centre in Milan’s Tortona District before an audience of architects, designers and media.

The centrepiece, an installation called RŌS, utilises approximately 300 stainless-steel springs stretched across the space to create a shimmering structure. Water droplets are engineered to glide along these springs on defined paths at varying speeds, mimicking the controlled movement of fluid through technical systems.

The design of RŌS draws direct inspiration from the Geberit SuperTube, a flow-optimised drainage system that guides wastewater through pipes in a controlled spiral movement. By bringing the spiral movement of wastewater – usually hidden behind walls – into a visible spatial format, the installation highlights the company’s “Mastering Water” philosophy.

During the opening event, Aurel Aebi, Co-Founder of atelier oï, and Christoph Behling, Geberit’s Head of Design, participated in a panel discussion, which explored how a fundamental understanding of material properties and elemental behaviour serves as the necessary foundation for functional design.

The exhibition also served as the international debut for the permanent Geberit Experience Centre on Via Tortona. Designed by the Ippolito Fleitz Group, the centre is intended as a hub for Gulf-based and international architects, designers and planners to engage with sanitary solutions ranging from flushing systems to bathroom ceramics within a holistic building context.

Headquartered in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, the Geberit Group reported net sales of CHF3.2 billion ($4.09 billion) in 2025. The company, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024, employs 11,000 people globally and maintains 26 production facilities, of which four are located overseas.
