TCM's new Acroba forklift was a star attraction at the SaudiBuild 2001 exhibition held in Riyadh last month, according to Aljomaih Holding Company, its exclusive agent in the Kingdom.

''Thousands of visitors were very impressed by the revolutionary design of the forklift, which was showcased at our stand,'' says Abdullah S Al Ali, general manager of Aljomaih's Heavy Equipment Division. 'They were particularly taken up by the machine's ability to move sideways and pivot on its axis, while the more technically-minded appreciated the comfort and improved rear visibility that its swivel seat offers.''

Al Ali highlighted the salient features of the 1.5 to 4 tonne capacity Acroba series to visitors, elaborating on how it helps improve storage capacity of a warehouse from 10 to 30 per cent through its straight-sideways movement and pivoting capability. He pointed out that as it required less room to turn, the forklift improved turnaround time and productivity and that it significantly reduced operator fatigue, with its swivel seat and improved rear visibility.

The Acroba features a lift-lock system, which automatically locks the lift if the engine stalls. Other devices, such as a balance monitoring system, warning lights and buzzers further ensure safety in operation.

Finger-tip control levers for lifting and lowering forks, as well as comfortable armrests attached to the seat, make lifting operations easier. As in cars, the Acroba features an integrated switch for the indicators and lights.

"TCM technology," says Al Ali, "is applied not only to the Acroba series but to all its machines, including large diesel forklift trucks with telescopic spreaders or ram attachments for handling coils of steel or wire."

Aljomaih sells the complete range of TCM products including diesel, gasoline, LPG and electric forklift trucks, together with their attachments. "We provide prompt and efficient after-sales service, through our well-stocked parts departments and well-equipped workshops," Al Ali says.

The company also represents Fiat Allis, Iveco Aifo and New Holland of Italy, Claas and MTU of Germany, TCM and Tacom of Japan, Nokka-Tume of Finland, Perkins of the UK, Merlo, Nardi and Sogema of Italy and Arcusin of Spain.

It sells a wide range of generator sets and engines, wheel loaders, dozers and graders, concrete mixers, vibratory compactors and asphalt rollers, forklifts and telescopic handlers, marine container straddle carrier and telescopic spreaders, agri-tractors and harvesters, mowers and balers, combined seed drills and fertiliser spreaders, cultivators and disc ploughs and trailers and auto-bale loaders to the Saudi market.
