Arabtec wins key deals

Arabtec Holding, a leading contractor for social and economic infrastructure, says its wholly-owned subsidiary, Arabtec Construction has been awarded a Dh1.025-billion ($279 million) contract from Dubai Properties for the Amaranta and La Quinta phases of its Villanova project in Dubailand.

 The project involves the construction works for a residential community that includes villas and townhouses.

  Villanova, which is located off Emirates Road, between Al Ain Road and Al Qudra Road and 10 minutes away from Business Bay, displays influences of Mediterranean architecture with the use of columns, arches, textured facades and slanted roofs with spacious units. The project works are expected to begin immediately with an overall duration of 28 months.

 On the contract win, group CEO Hamish Tyrwhitt says: “We look forward to working on the Villanova Project and to developing our relationship with Dubai Properties. This contract reflects the group’s ability to deliver projects tailored to our client’s requirements.”

 “We continue to onboard new projects through the 4-Gate Work Winning Process, which is designed to selectively win work that has the ability to deliver successful outcomes which will continue to support the group to capitalise on the positive long-term outlook for the construction and engineering sector in our core geographic markets,” he adds.

Efeco (Emirates Falcon Electromechanical Company), another wholly-owned subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, will be carrying out the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing works) for the project.

Efeco has also been awarded a Dh250-million ($68 million) contract by Turkish group TAV Tepe Akfen Construction to provide MEP services for a major project being developed by Emaar Properties in Dubai.

As per the deal, Efeco will be responsible for the MEP works at Tower A2 and A3 which have a common basement in Plot A at the Opera District coming up in Downtown Dubai.

The twin towers will boast a total of 809 apartments offering a built-up area of 2.35 million sq ft. Work on the project, which was due to start last month, will be completed by the end of 2020.

On the contract win, Tyrwhitt says: “We are pleased that Efeco has been awarded the Opera District project. We look forward to working on another project for Emaar Properties as we continue to build on our solid relationships in our core markets.”
