SAUDI Cast believes there is great scope for its range of floor and roof drains in major projects in the GCC and is gearing up to boost its exports in the region.
Its convictions were reinforced at the recent Project Qatar exhibition in Doha, where the company had a chance to showcase its products to leading designers of major projects. “The turnout was fantastic particularly in terms of consultants and designers and for Saudi Cast the expo was a major success,” said Farrukh Mansoor, export manager of the Riyadh-based company.
He said the company, which has been successfully selling its products in the GCC markets for the past 20 years, is looking to further tap the market potential, especially with its FloDrain range of floor and roof drains.
“We see great potential for FloDrain in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, and are confident that our drains will be approved for use in many projects in these markets,” he said.
A major step in this direction is the plan to open a representative office in Doha, Qatar, in September this year. The company already has representative offices in Amman (Jordan) and Sharjah (UAE).
“After just seven years of its launch, FloDrain is now the number one selling drainage range in Saudi Arabia. It is approved by almost every government authority in the kingdom. It is also approved by Aramco for its projects, and by every major developer in the private sector,” Mansoor said.
Saudi Cast has recently been awarded a contract to supply drainage gratings to the Jeddah stormwater drainage project, he said. Recent projects include supply of FloDrain to Princess Nora University and King Abdullah Financial District, both in Riyadh. Supply of channel drainage to the New Doha International Airport in Qatar was a major project the company was involved in outside Saudi Arabia.
All drain bodies, tops, clamps and accessories are manufactured locally in its foundry in Riyadh. “This provides many advantages for the contractor such as faster delivery,” he added.
According to Mansoor, FloDrain’s success is due to its quality as well as Saudi Cast’s location in the region which has helped it “supply quality products, at the right price, and on time”.
“Our aim is to apply that simple strategy which has worked so well in Saudi Arabia to other markets in the GCC. We believe that we stand a good chance of succeeding there as well,” Mansoor concluded.
