INVESTORS and manufacturing facilities are increasingly focusing on mineral wool insulation as the best solution for achieving thermal and acoustic performance, as well as meeting sustainability requirements and energy-saving targets for their industrial projects, says Kuwait Insulating Material Manufacturing Company (Kimmco).
The Kuwait-based company, a subsidiary of Alghanim Industries, offers a range of products that afford fire resistance, noise reduction, sound insulation and energy savings in such applications. It offers fibreglass building rolls for pre-engineered buildings (PEBs); pipe insulation for process plants; rockwool insulation (LRB mattress) for boilers and steam pipes in power plants, petrochemical and refineries; acoustic insulation for generator rooms; and thermal and acoustic insulation for separating walls between plant machinery and control room/working offices.
As a licensee of Saint Gobain Isover, a world leader in fibreglass insulation, Kimmco manufactures and supplies customised reflective, acoustic and fire-resistant insulation solutions. In addition, it also provides rockwool insulation products manufactured by its subsidiary, Rockwool India.
Kimmco products have a very high product life with the mineral wool insulation lasting longer than the building/structure they are used in, a spokesman for the company claims.
Highlighting some of the advantages of using Kimmco products, the spokesman says: “Our products save up to 36 per cent in energy consumption and provide comfort to occupants through a better regulated indoor temperature and reduced sound; in case of a fire, they afford extra protection and provide occupants time to evacuate the premises. In addition, these products do not age, and hence give the same performance over their lifespan without any deterioration.”
Many industrial structures made from PEBs use Kimmco insulation products for their wall and roof applications.
Kimmco is currently involved in a wide variety of industrial factories and process plants. Some of the challenging projects the company has handled in Kuwait in the recent past include the supply of duct insulation products (KDI) to industrial projects such as Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and Subiya power plant for their heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) applications.
The company is also an approved supplier to the Tanajib facility expansion project near Al Khafji in Saudi Arabia, supplying blanket insulations for the dry wall partitions. In addition, it boasts of being one of the approved vendors to the prestigious Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Apart from industrial applications, Kimmco products have also found use in numerous private, commercial and government buildings for floors, walls, roofs, air-conditioning and piping. It has supplied to prestigious projects within the Middle East and Africa (Mena) region including Dubai Metro and Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s (Adnoc’s) headquarters building in Abu Dhabi, Princess Nora University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait.
Commenting on the company’s plans for further growth over the coming year, the spokesman says: “Kimmco continues to focus on opportunities across the GCC, with its emphasis being on capitalising on the huge Saudi market.”
Kimmco, established in Kuwait in 1977, is today a market leading insulation solution provider in the Middle East, Africa, the Far East and other Asian countries. It has been serving customers in the GCC for more than 30 years and has gained a strong reputation as an industry leader with world-class quality and service.
Kimmco’s insulation products contribute to green building and sustainability requirements of projects seeking to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (Leed) and Estidama certifications. The company is actively compliant with best-in-class international environmental standards and is ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified for its quality, environment and health and safety standards, respectively.
