EUROPEAN lifting specialist GGR Group has expanded into the Middle East with the launch of GGR Gulf under a joint venture with Dubai-based Oriental General Trading.
GGR Gulf will offer customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and the rest of the Gulf, specialist restricted access lifting equipment.
UNIC mini-spider cranes and vacuum lifters will make up GGR Gulf’s range of equipment. Compact enough to fit through standard doorways for internal access, yet with the reach and strength of much larger machines, GGR Gulf’s mini-cranes are capable of lifting 0.995 to 6 tonnes with a reach of up to 23 m, while its self-contained vacuum lifters are capable of lifting glass and composite panels of up to 2,000 kg.
GGR has a wealth of experience in a variety of industries and has previously worked on large-scale projects in the UK and across Europe, such as Houses of Parliament, the Tate Modern, Oxford University, The Royal Opera House and Heathrow Airport, amongst others.
GGR Gulf project manager Gary Jones said: “Despite the general slowdown in construction due to the financial crisis, there is still a certain confidence and ample opportunity in the Gulf. Having worked on everything from large-scale commercial buildings to aviation engineering and maintenance, GGR’s lifting equipment and expertise is perfect for this area. Our speciality of lifting in restricted environments – which has lead us to work down narrow man-holes, on top of skyscrapers and everything in between – means we’ve usually got the equipment and knowledge for even the most unusual jobs. We’re eager to bring our wealth of experience to the Gulf.”
