ARCHITECTURAL major Aedas has been chosen as the master planner for Bahrain’s massive commerce, entertainment and education facility – @bahrain.

Planned adjacent to the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), the BD377-million ($1 billion) initiative will offer a state-of-the-art exhibition and convention facility, a choice of hotel accommodation ranging from mid-market to luxury, the region’s first multi-purpose event centre, leisure and retail facilities as well as a research institute, a TechnoPark, light industry and a focus on education and training.
In addition, @bahrain, which is scheduled to open in late 2012 or early 2013, will also provide a multi-purpose indoor event centre suitable for staging large-scale shows and sporting events, hotels, a lifestyle plaza incorporating food, beverage and entertainment outlets and a top-of-the-range auto club, where owners can store vehicles in a secure, temperature-controlled environment and can buy into the chance to drive them at the BIC.
Aedas has teamed up with Mohamed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau (MSCEB) to provide consultancy services, and will utilise the services of Scott Wilson, who will act as consultants in the areas of transport and infrastructure.
