CONSTRUCTION of a multi-million-dollar roads interchange at the Mina Salman junction in Bahrain is expected to begin early next year.

Part of the Strategic Roads Master Plan, the project will bring an end to bottlenecks at one of Bahrain’s main arteries, said Works Ministry Public Works Affairs Under-Secretary Nayef Al Kalali.
The tendering process for the prestigious project is now on and will conclude by the end of this month he said, adding that six leading firms, including some from Bahrain, have already bid for the project.
The project includes the construction of an overpass from the Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway to Al Fateh Street, and construction of a tunnel from the Sheikh Isa bin Salman Bridge heading towards the Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Port and Hidd.
Al Kalali said the project would take 32 months to complete after construction begins and be ready “before the end of 2013”.
