

GIVEN the increasing focus on safety at site and within industrial facilites, Saudi Leather Industries Company reports a good performance over the past year with contracts from major organisations such as Saudi Aramco, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and Saudia Arabian Airlines. The regional pioneer in industrial safety, military and casual footwear is now planning to add non-conductive shoes and ladies safety footwear to its products in the near future.
Located in Dammam in the Second Industrial City of the kingdom, the company also makes security belts using the most modern plant and equipment. All the safety footwear conforms to EN 345. The soles are resistant to oil, acid and alkali. It can also manufacture safety footwear with steel mid sole for puncture-proof protection in accordance to EN-345 S3.
According to general manager Khalid Al Jabr, the company’s focus on retaining the loyalty of customers at all times has held in good stead even during the downturn in the market.
The company, he says, strives to achieve customer satisfaction and towards this end it has an in-house development department to introduce new styles regularly. Continual effort is made to upgrade the quality and comfort of the products.
“Quality is paramount,” says Al Jabr, adding that all footwear conforms to stringent international specification as do all raw materials and components used. To maintain consistency in quality, all specifications and finished goods are monitored closely in the factory laboratory.
The ISO 9001:2000-certified company is a member of Satra, UK, a topnotch professional institute for footwear technology in the world.
Saudi Leather is looking at increasing domestic and export sales and sees good prospects for the year ahead.
Established in 1982, Saudi Leather Industries has a plant covering an area of 15,000 sq m and employs 100 people. Its basic mission is to manufacture quality footwear to cater to the demands of the kingdom and other states in the Gulf and wider Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
