ALARABI Decoration and Construction Company, which has close to three decades of experience in interior decoration works, continues to add that touch of elegance and class to some of the luxury developments that are taking shape in the kingdom.
The Jeddah-based firm is gearing up to start work on a new conference palace that is being built next to the Jamjoom Centre on Jeddah’s corniche. It is also currently completing the high-end finishes for the Mall of Arabia in Jeddah and the Mall of Dhahran, both under a subcontract from the main contractor Haifa Al Jazira Company.
Alarabi is supplying and installing Prodema ceilings and marble at the Mall of Arabia and acrylic ceilings at the Mall of Dhahran. Both these projects are for the Al Hokair Group, and Alarabi is hopeful of clinching further deals from the group, which intends to build a hotel and additional malls in the Jeddah.
Other ongoing projects include various private villas and residential compounds in Jeddah and Riyadh.
The interior décor veteran is a leading major subcontractor, offering a vast range of facilities and services to the construction sector, including decorative gypsum works, special painting works, various artistic decor works, decorative swimming pools and tiling works.
It is looking to further strengthen its market presence and position itself to be able to cope with the increase in demand for its services, when major building projects enter their finishing stage.
“Several high-rise buildings are now close to reaching structural completion in all cities of the kingdom, and soon, the contractors will require our services for the finishing work,” says Renato Zimmerman, general manager. “Therefore, during this year, we are looking at further improving our market penetration and the quality of our services to meet the anticipated demand.”
While the financial downturn has impacted its business levels, the company anticipates a fast economic recovery during this year. “Though our turnover was lower than our normal capacity, we feel this will improve over the coming years as the pace of construction quickens,” says Zimmerman.
Elaborating on the company’s strategies to maintain its market share, he says: “We aim to maintain our strong market presence by focusing on the upper end of the market and our most loyal customers. We are also handling fewer capital projects and are procuring raw materials locally as far as possible.”
Alarabi has been involved in some of the niche interior decoration projects in the kingdom including decorative gypsum works for the King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (Kaust) in Thuwal near Jeddah and the Guest Palace Hotel and Symposium Centre in Riyadh; supply and installation of gypsum suspended ceiling works at the Development of King Abdul Aziz Endowment project in Makkah; supply and installation of about 93,000 sq m of gypsum ceiling and cornices at Le Meridien Hotel and Towers in Makkah; and supply and installation of fibrous gypsum works and painting works at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs’ HRH building in Jeddah.
Some of the other major projects completed by Alarabi include decoration works for the prestigious Al Nour Mall in Madinah, modification of various royal palaces for Saudi Oger, Jeddah’s Equestrian Club (Bouygues Saby), Red Sea Mall and Star Avenue Mall, both in Jeddah, Sephora Rashid Mall in Al Khobar, Al Hofuf Mall in Hofuf, in Jeddah, Christian Dior outlets in Jeddah, Riyadh and Doha, (Qatar), Louis Vuitton shops in Doha, and various private villas and residential compounds in Jeddah and Riyadh.
Alarabi Decoration and Construction Company, launched in 1982, was converted to a limited company in 2004 and presently has several architects, artists, a dozen engineers and about 800 craftsmen handling its various projects.
The company has a 2,000 sq m workshop in Jeddah and a 1,500 sq m workshop in Riyadh, where it also has a branch office. Its sister companies include Alarabi International for Decoration, Kuwait, and Alarabi Decoration, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
