The Wild Wadi water park in Dubai, UAE, has been awarded ISO9002 rating for its quality management system.

The achievement is said to be the first ever ISO 9002 rating to be awarded to a water theme park anywhere in the world. Wild Wadi, part of Jumeirah International, was certified within a three-month period, during which staff completed details of their quality management system which incorporated staffing and organisational charts, job descriptions, health and safety manuals, legal guidelines, fire and safety procedures, quality maintenance procedures, mission and policy statements.

Wild Wadi general manager Scott Deisley said: "We are delighted to accept this certification signifying an internationally-recognised standard of quality across all aspects of the water park operations."

ISO certification is awarded to companies meeting and maintaining a series of quality assurance requirements. Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance conducted the ISO 9002 for Wild Wadi.

The Wild Wadi, said to be the Middle East's first fully-themed water-park, celebrates is first anniversary this month. Built to resemble a typical wadi, with lush vegetation set amidst the ruins of a long-lost civilisation, Wild Wadi can accommodate 2,000 visitors at any one time over its 5-hectare area. Close to 10 million litres of water circulate through the Wild Wadi rides, delivering thrilling entertainment along 1.7 km.
