India's top engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that one of its key subsidiaries - Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) - has secured large power infrastructure orders from its prime GCC markets of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Oman.
 
Unveiling the details, L&T said the contracts snapped up by its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) unit are valued in the range of Rs25 billion to Rs50 billion ($292 million to $584 million).
 
In Saudi Arabia, the vertical will be setting up two 380kV overhead lines for ensuring reliable power supply to the key townships around Riyadh. The combined length of these transmission lines runs over 130 km long. 
 
Also, the PT&D unit secured turnkey orders for construction, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of two 132/11kV Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) in the UAE and for a 132kV GIS in Qatar. 
 
Further to this, additional orders have been received in ongoing projects in India and Oman, it stated. 
 
In India, the PT&D unit won an order for setting up a 765kV GIS in western India and another order for the turnkey construction of a transmission line associated with evacuation of power in the same region.
 
These orders indicate the continued momentum in investments related to efficient grid infrastructure in India and abroad, and underscore customer confidence in L&T’s capabilities, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
