Huntingdon Fusion Technique Limited has through its Pipestoppers design group introduced changes to its popular aluminium expanding pipe plugs.
The changes would mean that the range will now extend from 1.5 inches to an increased size of 36 inches.
The range from 1.5 inches to 5 inches is available in half-inch sizes, from 6 inches to 10 inches in 1-inch sizes and 12 inches to 36 inches in a range of 1-inch to 2-inch variations covering all standard pipe diameters.
“One major benefit of aluminium plugs is the higher heat tolerance over the Pipestoppers nylon range. This reduces the risk of material softening and prevents the potential loss of the seal,” says a spokesman for the company.
“An additional advantage, particularly in the larger sizes, is that the aluminium plugs are considerably lighter than their steel counterparts,” he says.
These plugs have a wide range of potential uses, some of which include: as drain test plugs in domestic and industrial construction industries; as scupper plugs in the shipping industry; for pipework in a variety of applications in the water industry; in refineries and power stations where pipes generally have to be blocked to prevent leakage or to facilitate repair work; as debris stoppers to prevent unwanted material entering pipework systems when machining operations are being carried out; and to place in pipeline ends as overnight stoppers to prevent the ingress of unwanted material while the pipeline work is shutdown overnight.
