Mitsui, Japan’s second-biggest trading company, has received a $1.3 billion order to build a power and desalination plant in Kuwait from the government, said a Mitsui spokesman.

Mitsui will be the lead contractor in the project, which will have a capacity of 750 MW of power, enough to supply 300,000 households, and 200,000 tonnes of water daily, in the city of Shuaiba North along the Gulf, the source said.
The company is expected to sign the contract soon.
