Dewalt, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, has built five new heavy-duty XRP hammer-drill/drill/drivers from the ground up with significant performance, chuck and durability enhancements, boosting its existing range of XRP tools and combo kits in the 18-volt range.
The XRP line includes two 18-volt models (DC925KB and DC920KB), one 14.4-volt model (DC935KB) and two 12-volt models (DC945KB and DC940KB).
“The new XRP drills provide end-users with a substantial increase in speed of application versus the existing line of XRP drills,' says Suresh Srinivasan, product manager, Middle East and Africa, Dewalt Industrial Tools. “This advantage will be most noticeable to professional contractors when completing applications that require large-diameter bits such as self-feed and ship auger bits. In order to obtain this speed of application advantage, Dewalt built each drill with a high-power, high-efficiency motor that delivers maximum performance in drilling and fastening applications.”
“Dewalt also made improvements to the transmission, allowing it to handle the increase in power. The new XRP drills have a dramatically increased runtime. Designed to work day in day out in all weather conditions, the new units come with 2.6 Ah NiMH batteries, and a 30-minute fast charger,” he adds.
The XRP hammer-drills (DC925KB, DC935KB and DC945KB) are designed with a heavy-duty 13-mm self-tightening chuck system for increased bit retention. The innovative chuck system tightens throughout drill operation to prevent bits from slipping. For improved performance when completing overhead applications, the chuck provides debris vents to allow dust and debris to escape during use.
“Each hammer-drill/drill/driver in the new XRP line has a patented three-speed transmission that optimises the speed applied to each application, offering professional end-users maximum performance for various applications,” the spokesman explains.
“For example, the first speed is ideal for drilling large holes in wood using large-diameter hole saws and self-feed bits. The second speed is intended for use with auger bits and screw driving, while the third speed is most commonly used for hammer drilling into concrete.”
“The XRP drill/drivers show best-in-class ergonomics. The DC920KB and DC940KB are equipped with a Rohm single-sleeve 13-mm chuck. The new housing design combined with improvements to the switch, motor and transmission make these the most durable cordless drills Dewalt has ever made,” he concludes.
