To demonstrate the latest Foamglas cellular glass insulation solutions, Pittsburgh Corning, a leader in industrial, institutional and commercial insulation, has produced a new industrial insulation guide on its hot and cryogenic insulation systems.

The latest range of prefabricated products is covered, including valve boxes, T-pieces, cones and vessel heads, all of which simplify and speed up site installation and which are all manufactured on a bespoke basis to customers’ exact requirements, says a spokesman for Pittsburgh Corning UK. This range has been expanded in line with the industry move towards prefabricated elements.
Two new installation systems have been introduced.  Factory pre-coated Foamglas with Terostat PCFR polymer enables more rapid installation, whilst Foamglas Stratafab enables high-temperature single-layer installations that eliminate the use of permeable fibrous material.
“Foamglas has unique physical properties that make it ideal for insulation of piping and equipment, both above-ground and underground, indoors or outdoors, and at process temperatures from -268 deg C to +480 deg C. It has been extensively proven throughout the oil, gas and petrochemical industry worldwide,” says the spokesman.
Manufactured from 100 per cent pure glass (of which 66 per cent is post-consumer recycled waste), it contains no CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons), HFAs (hydrofluoroalkane-134a) or pentane.   Foamglas is non-combustible (Euroclass A1), non-toxic, and emits no toxic fumes or gases in the event of fire. As well as being totally impervious to moisture of any kind, it will not wick any chemical leakages, he adds.
