European aluminium systems manufacturer Reynaers Aluminium has introduced a new high-performance window and door solution that is said to combine aesthetic design, optimal stability and superior thermal insulation values.
The new CS 86-HI is a three-chamber system with innovative insulating skeleton strips, which gives architects the opportunity to design windows and doors that combine creativity, transparency and energy efficiency, says a spokesman for Reynaers.
Thermal & acoustic
He explains: “Thanks to the integration of the 41-mm insulation strips with a skeleton structure, the CS 86-HI window system offers an enhanced thermal performance and helps to deliver buildings that are more energy-efficient. The insulation value of the skeleton strips is comparable to the value of glass wool.
“The system achieves Uf-values ranging from 1.5 W/sq m K to 1.9 W/sq m K – depending on the profile combination – and as such provides the ideal solution for the most stringent thermal insulation requirements.
“CS 86-HI windows not only reduce energy costs but also make buildings more comfortable. In combination with high insulating glass, CS 86-HI also achieves substantial sound reductions and creates superior acoustic comfort.”
CS 86-HI, which is part of Reynaers’ CS range - a special modular system range for aluminium joinery, consisting of a large choice of profiles and accessories that are fully interchangeable – has been launched with a flat functional design. The hidden vent variant design will be available soon.
High-end solutions
Commenting on the system’s suitability for doors, the spokesman says: “The CS 86-HI system comprises several innovative features that make it the perfect solution for high-performing door applications. The optimised wall thickness of the profiles enhances the stability and makes it possible to fabricate doors up to 3 m high.
“Another innovation is the use of flexible expansion strips in the vent profiles, which make them less subject to bending. Thanks to the 16-mm accessory groove, fittings and accessories are easily integrated, reducing fabrication time substantially and making the CS 86-HI a very cost-effective system.”
With a basic depth of 77 mm, the CS 86-HI can be used for a variety of inward and outward opening door configurations. Furthermore, different types of floor connections have been developed to meet market specific requirements. The rebate depth of 25 mm enables safety glass with a thickness of up to 63 mm to be used, he says. Burglar-resistance up to security class WK 2 is achievable with special fittings.
