Construction of a new exhibition hall for the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICC) – part of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) complex –  has just been launched and will be completed in  eight months.

The project will add 15,000 sq m of exhibition space to the DICC, increasing the available space by 30 per cent.
The project is part of two-stages strategy to provide sufficient exhibition space for the future. The first stage involves expanding  the current  facilities at DICC to support the growth of the industry over the next three years. The second stage will involve the construction of Dubai Exhibition City, part of the Jebel Ali Airport City, which will offer a staggering 120,000 sq m of exhibition space by 2009.
The construction of the exhibition hall is the first phase of a major redevelopment and enhancement project of the DWTC complex to include a state-of-the-art convention centre, office and residential towers, hotels and hotel apartments and shopping facilities over a period of seven to 10 years.
Apart from the new convention centre, designed to be the most technologically advanced in the world, it will also include the Landmark Tower to be situated on Sheikh Zayed Road, shopping outlets, residential complexes, parking facilities and links to the advanced Dubai Light Rail metro system. DWTC has awarded Mace International the project management services deal on the Dh16 billion ($4.358 billion) redevelopment of the DWTC complex.
