The DFC rises up.

Work is expected to shortly commence on the roofing of the Festival Centre’s third floor while the construction of the final component, a 12 cinema complex, is due to begin in the first quarter of next year.

Festival Centre – the centrepiece of the Dubai Festival City (DFC) – is set around the 150-berth Mediterranean-style Festival Marina and heralds a new era of fusion offerings.
Being constructed by Al-Futtaim Carillion, the Festival Centre will feature over 400 shops and 70 restaurants and cafes spread across four themed pavilions – all offering waterfront settings to diners.

Launches
The DFC, meanwhile will open five major components between this July and April 2006 starting with the launch of the flagship Toyota showroom at the project's automotive park.
This will be followed by the opening of two schools – the British curricula Deira International School and US-curricula Universal American School – in September.
Two months later, the UAE’s largest Ikea will open at DFC’s retail park and will shortly be followed by another retailing milestone, the launch of a 175,000 sq ft hypermarket to be managed by a high profile international chain.
The Festival Centre's retail offering will span 2.6 million sq ft of retail gross leaseable area.
