The Shaikh Isa Library and Conference Centre, under construction near Al Fateh Grand Mosque in Bahrain, has received a BD200,000 ($530,503) grant from a Kuwaiti philanthropist.
The donation has come from Al Bahar Group chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Bahar.
“The BD14 million project is on schedule, thanks to the support of various financial institutions and a number of philanthropists from Bahrain and outside,” a spokesman said. “The structural work on the library project is completed. Work on mechanical and other installations are currently under way,” he added.
Eighty-five per cent of work at the conference centre is also complete, he said and added that the project is scheduled for completion early next year.
The three-storey conference centre will include a main conference hall with a seating capacity for 1,000 people.
The ground floor will house a BD1 million multi-purpose hall, donated by Investcorp, where the late Amir HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s collection of books and artifacts will be displayed.
The complex will also have a parking area for more than 700 cars. The project will have a total built-in area of 16,000 sq m and the total plot area is 51,000 sq m, he said.
