Sayyar Trading, which has recently stepped into the arena of seating products, clinched Bahrain’s largest order to date for spectator seating when it won the contract for the Bahrain International Racing Circuit.
The order involves the supply of some 14,000 seats of two types – the first being Imsport plastic seating from Imsa of Turkey and the other type being tip-up metal seating from Metalliform of the UK.
“Winning this prestigious order is a major achievement for Sayyar Trading,” says Wael Sayyar, managing director. “It was a challenge to introduce a new product and clinch the entire order for seating for this landmark project.”
Metalliform seating has been specifically developed to meet the demanding standards of durability, comfort and safety required for stadiums, arenas and other sports venues, he says.
The company offers a comprehensive range of seating for indoor and outdoor venues, providing exceptional comfort, durability and safety, Sayyar adds.
“Imsport seats are designed for comfort and a maintenance-free life,” he explains. “Made from ultraviolet (UV)-protected, injection-moulded, high-impact copolymer, the seats provide long-lasting, colourful, comfortable and economical solutions to indoor or outdoor spectator seating requirements. The ergonomically-designed seats, with relatively few parts, allow for quick and easy installation.”
The Bahrain-based trading firm, which acquired the agencies for these two manufacturers last year, has already started installation of seating on site.
In addition to spectator seating, the company also supplied sanitary ware and accessories from Villeroy & Boch (V&B) of Germany, mixers from Hansa as well as accessories from Bradley of the US in the VIP Tower.
Over the past year, the company has added a number of other agencies to its portfolio. Sayyar is particularly enthusiastic about the new mist cool systems from Mist Cooling Systems of Malaysia and sees great potential for the product in the Bahrain market. The company has already won a contract to supply the systems to the Ritz Carlton hotel in Seef.
Misty Cool, as the systems are called, comprise mist cooling fans, which spray millions of ultra fine droplets of filtered water that is pumped under high pressure through nozzles – into the hot atmosphere. The temperature in the coverage area is proportionately reduced to more comfortable levels through the principle of ‘flash evaporation’, he explains.
Another product line that Sayyar Trading launched last month at a seminar at the Sheraton Hotel is Cemtex Link Pipe from Canada. The system uses no-dig technology to rehabilitate underground pipes. The company offers grouting sleeves to reinstate broken sewer pipes, HydroSeal to repair potable water pipes and cure-in-place lining system for laterals and sewer mains.
Other new agencies it has acquired include UAC Berhad of Malaysia, which produces cellulose fibre-reinforced cement building boards (Superflex), asbestos-free slotted eave lining (Duravent) and lattice decorative sheets (UAC Lattice), which are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Sayyar Trading also strengthened its existing product line with the addition of new products from its long-standing principal V&B.
“V&B launched its new Aveo and Subway line of products at ISH in Frankfurt early last year,” says Sayyar.
The firm’s other long-standing list of principals includes leading international brand names such as Jado, Hansa and Dornbracht mixer fittings, Hoesch and Huppe bath systems, and Rex laminated wooden parquet, all from Germany; Bradley accessories and Elkay water coolers and drinking fountains from the US; Vervolet ironmongery from Belgium, Roca sanitary ware (considered to be the second largest manufacturer) from Spain, and Forbo PVC flooring from Switzerland; Gedy accessories from Italy; Kitchen units from Grovewood of the UK. Garden and swimming pool furniture from Roland Vlaemynck of France, and TimeLox card access systems from Sweden are also promoted by the company.
Sayyar Trading also offers tiles from Caesar (ceramic), Monica (ceramic) and Sicis (mosaic) of Italy and V&B (ceramic) from Germany, Vives (ceramic) and Roca (ceramic and porcelain) of Spain and Topcer (special procelain) from Portugal.
Sayyar also has fabrication facilities for Topstone (a surfacing material for vanities and kitchen tops) and for channels and accessories used in gypsum ceilings and partitions.
In addition, the company has an aluminium and steel tiles manufacturing facility – producing tiles in the 60 by 60 cm format – in Qatar. It also supplies the residential, retail and commercial market in Bahrain.
Over the past year, the company has been involved in numerous projects besides the Formula One racetrack project. These include:
Having diversified its portfolio considerably over the past year, the company is now looking at expanding its facilities in Sitra, where it fabricates Topstone, marble and ceiling products and assembles kitchen units. Orders have already been placed for additional machinery for the facility, says Sayyar.
The company is also looking at moving into a new showroom in Sitra. Designs have already been finalised for the project.
