Qatar's Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has issued a decree reshuffling the Central Tenders Committee. Khalifa Saqr Al Hitmi has been named chairman while eight other members were also appointed.
The new members will serve on the committee for a renewable three-year period. The deputy chairman will be named by the Finance Minister from the members.
Model firm to expand plant
Sharjah: A H Model Making, which produces architectural models and exhibition stand services, has announced a Dh1.3 million ($354,000) expansion of its Sharjah plant.
The expansion will facilitate the launch of the company's new customised turnkey office solutions division.
The investment covers the physical expansion of the Sharjah factory and the installation of a new water jet cutting machine required for customised marble flooring, said Roger Hobeika, projects manager.
Investment park phase one leased
Dubai: Phase one of the private sector-led Dubai Investments Park (DIP) has been completed and fully leased out.
DIP is a multi-phased development project covering 3,200 hectares in the south of Dubai, near Jebel Ali Free Zone. Construction started in 2000 and is to be completed in 15 years. Total development costs are Dh1.5 billion ($408 million), of which Dh120 million was for phase one and Dh90 million for phase two.
An additional Dh40 billion would be invested in the project in a few years. The first phase has about 400 hectares of residential, commercial and industrial complexes.
Supply facility to open
Manama: A $10 million logistics, warehousing and supply chain facility is to be opened in Bahrain by a Bahraini-Kuwaiti joint venture.
Jawad Business Group (JBG) has formed a 50-50 joint venture with Kuwait's Public Warehousing Company (PWC) to set up the facility which will be located in the Mameer Industrial Area on land leased from the Commerce and Industry Ministry.
Centre nears completion
Manama: Construction work on a pioneering centre, situated in East Riffa, which will cater for people suffering from mental retardation is near completion.
The BD500,000 ($1.33 million) Al Rahma (Mercy) Centre, near the Hamad Kanoo Health Centre in Bahrain, has been designed by Adel Ahmadi Associates and constructed by Olympic Construction.
