Emirates Building Systems (EBS) has partnered with Tekla Middle East to fabricate and erect the distinctive "crown" on the The Tower, the new landmark building on Dubai's Shaikh Zayed Road.
With its four fins surrounding a central pyramid, The Tower's crown segment utilises more than 120 tonnes of steel and was created using Finland-based Tekla's X-steel solution, an application for modelling and detailing of steel structures, EBS said.
A key feature of the project was developing a complete materials list necessary for the unique structure, including the number and size of beams, nuts, bolts, and other construction materials. This comprehensive materials list, provided by Tekla's X-Steel solution, helped to ensure that a construction project like The Towers is completed within a set time and budget, EBS added.
The Tower is the second project on which EBS and Finland-based Tekla have collaborated.
The fabrication company also deployed X-Steel in the design and fabrication of the Skywalk Bridge in Dubai. Tekla's technology has also been deployed in the construction of the Abu Dhabi Trade Centre, Dubai's new Grand Hyatt complex and the Kingdom Centre in Saudi Arabia.
