GE Power Systems, part of General Electric, the diversified technology, services and manufacturing company, has launched a new gas turbine service centre in Abu Dhabi.
The service centre will be managed by Gulf Turbine Services - a joint venture between General Electric and Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) which was established in November 2001 to carry out repairs on GE and non-GE designed gas turbine components in the UAE.
"We're delighted to be unveiling our new gas turbine service centre in Abu Dhabi, which will be the only authorised service centre in the UAE and this will add to the service network of GE-Meelsa - the other authorised service centre in this region," says Ken Irish, general manager, Gulf Turbine Services.
Gulf Turbine Services will have access to all GE design technology, repair processes and procedures.
The new facility will feature the latest equipment - including Dry Low Nox liquid and gas flow testing equipment, robotics, and coating cell machinery - making it one of the most high-tech in the region.
The centre will be capable of making repairs on all static and rotating gas turbine components for gas turbines as large as the 120 MW-class MS9001E machine. The shop will also provide service and repair on all types of mechanical and rotating equipment including transformers and switchgear repairs.
Situated in Mussafah Industrial Estate, Abu Dhabi, the facility's location will enable the centre to support customers throughout the UAE and other Gulf countries.
