Al Rashed Tower ... a total built-up area of 20,000 sq m.

A striking office tower is nearing completion in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

The Al Rashed Tower, as it is called, has been designed to provide upmarket office space in a prime business location in Al Khobar city. The tower has been designed by Samir Khairallah & Partners, Architects, Planners and Engineers of Lebanon and is being built by Saudi United Company under a SR100 million ($26.7 million) contract. Universal Corporation is the project manager. The tower is the property of Sheikh Saleh Ali Al Rashed.

About 90 per cent of the work on the 17-storey building has been completed and curtain-walling is now being installed on the structure which has already reached its full height. The building - which occupies a 3,000 sq m site and has a total built-up area of 20,000 sq m - includes two basement levels accommodating a 160-slot car-park as well as ground and mezzanine levels. Work on the project started in November 1999 and is scheduled for completion this July.

The office floors offer sea views from the fourth floor upwards and are completely open plan, allowing the occupants to plan their space to their requirements.

The building is served by four elevators, each with a capacity of 1,000 kg, and features a fully integrated building management system (BMS). Other mechanical and electrical systems include closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, fire alarm using addressable analogue detector technology, fire-fighting, central air-conditioning and telecommunication systems via satellite.

Al Rashed Tower will also be equipped with two standby generator sets.
