Officials of Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing and CMEC during an inspection tour of the East Sitra Town project site.

Bahraini officials said work is moving at a steady pace on the East Sitra Town project, which once completed, will be home to 3,000 residential units.

The Chinese group China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) affirmed the completion of the land reclamation and preparation of the land ahead of the commencement of the infrastructure works and the construction of the units, stated a BNA report.

 To be implemented in three phases, the project will boast key facilities and services that serve about 20,640 citizens, reported BNA

These include schools, kindergartens and nurseries, public parks, children’s playgrounds, houses of worship, health, social and cultural facilities, a youth club, commercial centres, petrol stations, water treatment station and a centre for visitors’ services. in addition to a 2.6-km seafront promenade and 13-km-long bicycle lanes.

The accelerated pace of work at housing projects reflects the government’s seriousness in meeting the citizens’ housing demands according to schedule, remarked Housing Minister Bassim bin Yacoob Al Hamar.

The minister lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to address the housing issue in the kingdom, citing the royal order to build 40,000 housing units to the citizens.

He was speaking while paying a visit to the East Sitra Town project, where he was briefed on the ongoing project, overseen by CMEC.
