AT BAUMA 2013, Bauer Maschinen Group along with all its subsidiaries will present the broadest offer in the specialist foundation engineering equipment sector. The group has been continually expanding its product range over recent decades and offers a diverse range of equipment on the market to meet every requirement of the sector.
Commenting on the group’s showcase at the exhibition, a spokesman for the company says: “The core Bauer products will be drilling rigs of the BG series and the range of trench cutters.”
Sister concerns with new products will include Klemm Bohrtechnik, with its anchor drilling rigs and jet-grouting systems; MAT Mischanlagentechnik, which produces suspension mixers and treatment plants; Prakla Bohrtechnik, which is a manufacturer of well drilling rigs; and RTG Rammtechnik, which provides Bauer with a competence centre in the manufacture of a wide variety of leader systems.
BG drilling rigs
Bauer’s new Value Line, to be launched at the event, is optimised for kelly drilling, while the Premium Line, as the name suggests, is a high-end range incorporating multifunction rigs for a wide variety of applications.

The Premium Line range extends from the BG 12 up to the BG 50. It enables all rotary drilling techniques to be implemented, including kelly drilling with and without a casing oscillator, the classic CFA (continuous flight auger) system and CCFA (cased continuous flight auger) drilling, as well as soil displacement pile drilling.
These rigs can also be easily used to carry out all kinds of ground improvement techniques, such as CSM (cutter soil mixing), single or multiple soil mixing, or deep vibration. In addition, they can be fitted with BC trench cutters – which makes them suitable as a platform for all commonly employed specialist foundation engineering techniques, and enables them to adapt to a wide variety of different soil types based on a broad range of tools.
All Premium Line rigs can be fitted with a Tier IVi engine conforming to the highest exhaust emission standards, though a standard Tier II or III engine is still available for all models intended to be used in markets where emissions are not regulated. The base carrier units for the Premium Line are specified to attain the lowest noise emission values in their class. Their specification ensures compliance with the latest environmental standards.

Smart connectivity ... standard with the BG Premium Line models. |
The main winches for the Premium Line rigs feature high pulling forces and wide drums. State-of-the-art electronic systems make the rigs easy to control and highly responsive. The new Bauer B-Tronic Generation 4.1 is an enhanced variant, featuring monitoring of the winch pull and hoisting speed, a torque indicator and error message display as well as a diagnostic assist.
The BG Premium Line models are also equipped as standard with the Bauer kelly visualisation system, which provides operators with full assistance to ensure the kelly bar is operated optimally and with low wear. A tablet PC with built-in wireless functionality now comes as standard in the new Premium Line cab.
In terms of safety, the rigs now incorporate fall guards, an integrated ladder to access the uppercarriage and handrails on all walkways, as well as walk-on platforms on top of the uppercarriage. The service hatches on the side of the uppercarriage are of lift-up design. The counterweight disks can be variably stacked.
“Great attention was paid to ease of handling and to optimum health and safety assurance,” says the company spokesman.
Trench cutter
The latest version of the BC series trench cutter, the BC 35, will also be showcased by Bauer at bauma. Mounted on a Bauer MC 96 cable excavator with a rotation mechanism, it is capable of 58-m cutting depth without rotation and 48 m with rotation.

“Bauer has almost 30 years’ experience in diaphragm wall technology, and the company is continually meeting the demands of construction site practice with new developments. Bauer trench cutters are in use on every continent,” says the spokesman.
Designed to meet specific on-site requirements, the BC 35 trench cutter is the successor to the tried and proven BC 32 model, though featuring a cutter frame extended to 12 m. On this new model the steering flaps on the cutter frame are farther apart and larger. This provides better and more precise steering, even in soft soil.
Deep drilling
Prakla Bohrtechnik is presenting a deep drilling rig designated RB-T 90, designed to sink emergency rescue shafts to reach trapped miners quickly and safely.
A key feature of the newly developed machines is their great mobility. Built on a truck trailer, they can be towed quickly to any location where they may be needed. RB-T 90 drilling rigs offer a maximum hook load capacity of 90 tonnes. The maximum small-diameter drilling depth is 3,000 m. With 700-mm diameter, bores can be sunk down to a depth of 1,500 m.
Meanwhile, Bauer’s subsidiary RTG Rammtechnik is also presenting the RT 21 T pile-driver mounted on the BS 65 RS base carrier with Eco mode, which features technical advances incorporating new sound-proofing systems. The rig has an automatic hatch opening device which cuts sound emissions by six decibels during operation. “This represents a major reduction compared to conventional sound-proofing measures. The relaunch of the RT 21 T also includes a number of other significant detail enhancements,” the spokesman says.
The RM 20 is another completely new rig from RTG, designed especially for hydraulic hammer applications and featuring a 20-m usable length. Its designers paid particular attention to ensuring a light transport weight. The telescopic mast can be tilted 18.3 degrees in all directions. Another key feature of the rig is its patented rope tensioner.
Bauer can be visited at Stand FG N 520 open-air exhibition site at bauma.
