The Briton 2700 Series overhead door closer.

INGERSOLL Rand has launched in the Middle East an innovative range of cast-iron and high efficiency overhead door closers, which are designed to make opening of fire doors a lot easier.

The Briton 2700 Series is a precision-manufactured cam-action, slide channel door closer in a compact, overhead surface fixed unit that combines easy opening with safe, reliable closing.

Designed specifically to protect buildings against fire and smoke whilst providing ease of accessibility, the new range enables the disabled, children and particularly the elderly to overcome the problem of not having sufficient strength to open a fire door. It bridges the gap between the conflicting demands of Part B (fire) and Part M (accessibility) of the Building Regulations as it provides sufficient closing force to comply with the requirement of EN1154 and CE marking for fire door controls – yet, it is suitable for use on access routes that require ease of opening to help building owners meet Part M and BS8300 (DDA) requirements.

“The new closer incorporates the innovative and unique Fast PowerAdjust function that provides installers and maintenance engineers with a visual guide to the strength of the closer, resulting in a more accurate power setting for a door,” says John Diedam, vice-president of sales.

“This allows installers to quickly identify and adjust spring power, which helps solve the problem of determining the correct door closer spring adjustment for the size of door being used and in doing so provides a convenient solution to one of the key problems highlighted by installers,” he adds.

The launch of the 2700 Series in the Middle East also heralds the introduction of the new ‘A-line’ door closer cover. This new fully-enclosed, all-over architectural cover is manufactured in corrosion-resistant die cast metal, incorporating a unique, unobtrusive clip fastening, which can be finished in a wide range of metallic and powder-coated colours.
