THE international division of UK-based roofing and cladding specialist Lakesmere has secured several new contracts in the Middle East valued collectively at nearly $14 million.

Work in the aviation and infrastructure sectors account for the majority of Lakesmere International’s new orders, the largest being an $11-million roofing contract awarded as part of the construction of a new airport in Salalah, Oman.

Further appointments include a $1-million contract to complete various roofing works on several new ancillary buildings at Muscat airport in Oman and a $700,000 roofing contract for the new Civilian Aviation Centre and Air Traffic Control Centre also in Oman.

Lakesmere International is also currently undertaking work at the King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia, following its appointment to complete a $1-million roofing contract for the university’s new teaching hospital. Work is progressing well on the installation of the 3,000-sq-m Kalzip aluminium roof, which has been designed by the Lakesmere team to meet stringent acoustic requirements.

Following its 2009 launch in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Lakesmere International has gone on to work on a number of high-profile projects in the region including the recently completed multi-million-dollar Kalzip roofing contract at Princess Nora University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Further offices have now been established in Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia in addition to premises in Muscat. In 2011, Lakesmere International appointed a dedicated general manager to further develop business in this growing market.

Formerly known as Lakesmere Middle East, Lakesmere International is currently working towards securing a number of new contracts outside of the Middle East.
